A few times each year, I have the opportunity to second shoot for other photographers around the DMV. I thought it would be fun to share a beautiful fall wedding at River Farm in Alexandria that I second shot for a friend of mine. I hope you enjoy this different perspective from a wedding day!
Getting Ready + First Look
We started the day at two different hotels in the Wharf in Downtown D.C. The groom, Alex, and his guys got ready at one hotel, while the bride, Jenny, and her girls got ready at another. We didn’t have a ton of time for getting ready portraits, so I took a few candid moments before we headed out for the first look. The couple chose to share their first look on the pier, which was beautiful in the midday sun! We took a few portraits there, then hopped in our cars and headed to the venue across the river.
Pre-Ceremony + Ceremony
Once at River Farm, we took portraits of Alex with his groomsmen, Jenny with her bridesmaids, and the full wedding party. Since I was second shooting, I had time to get creative with taking shots from different angles and capturing unique portraits. I was also in charge of focusing on the groomsmen, which was a ton of fun! After the portraits, we set up for the ceremony. Alex and Jenny got married in front of a pergola filled with white roses and greenery.
Cocktail Hour + Dinner, Dancing and Cake
During cocktail hour, I took some candids of Alex and Jenny’s friends and family members, then it was time for sunset portraits! We walked all around the grounds during the last few moments of golden hour glow. Jenny and Alex were absolutely radiant – I had such a blast. Once the sun had gone down, it was time for dinner, dancing and cake! I left before the night got too crazy. However, I did get to witness their sweet first dance before heading out. Congrats to Alex and Jenny on your beautiful fall wedding at River Farm! I wish you so much love and joy in the years ahead!
